How Often Should Laundromats Clean Their Machines?
Laundromat Machine Cleaning Schedules: What to Expect
Cleanliness is one of the most important qualities in a laundromat, and machine cleanliness is central to that. Customers reasonably want to know: how often are the machines actually cleaned? Here’s what a proper cleaning schedule looks like, and what Love Wash does to maintain our machines to the highest standard.
Daily Cleaning Tasks
Every day at Love Wash, our staff complete the following cleaning tasks:
- Wipe down machine exteriors, control panels, and door glass
- Inspect and wipe rubber door seals for residue or moisture
- Empty and clean detergent drawers of any residue
- Check and empty dryer lint traps
- Clean folding tables and surrounding surfaces
- Sweep and mop floors
- Clean bathrooms and common areas
These tasks are completed at the start of each operating day and checked throughout the day by staff on shift.
Weekly Cleaning Tasks
Weekly tasks at Love Wash include:
- Full drum clean cycle run on all washing machines
- Deep clean of detergent drawers and compartments
- Thorough inspection of all door seals
- Interior wipe-down of dryer drums
- Descaling treatments as needed for high-use machines
Monthly and Scheduled Maintenance
Monthly, our maintenance team performs:
- Internal pipe and pump inspections
- Machine filter cleaning and checks
- Calibration checks for cycle time and temperature accuracy
- Professional descaling treatment for all machines
- Lubrication of drum bearings and door hinges
We also maintain a log of machine service history, which allows us to track patterns and address issues before they become problems for customers.
How to Spot a Well-Cleaned Laundromat
When visiting any laundromat, look for:
- Drum interiors that are dry and odour-free
- Clean, mould-free door seals
- No lint visible in dryer drums before you load
- Clean folding tables and surfaces
- No spilled detergent on or around machines
- General premises cleanliness
If a machine looks or smells dirty, don’t use it — choose a different machine and tell staff. A good laundromat will take that feedback seriously.
Love Wash’s Commitment to Standards
We invest significantly in equipment maintenance and cleaning because we believe cleanliness isn’t optional — it’s fundamental. Clean machines produce better wash results, last longer, and give our customers confidence that their laundry is in good hands. We welcome feedback from our community on any aspect of our premises.
