Card Payments at Laundromats: What You Need to Know

For a long time, laundromats were synonymous with coins — hunting for change, keeping a coin jar, or asking at a service counter for coin exchange. That era is increasingly over. Modern laundromats like Love Wash have embraced cashless payment systems that are faster, more convenient, and more secure for everyone.

Payment Options at Love Wash

All Love Wash locations accept tap-and-go card payments directly at the machines. This includes:

• Visa and Mastercard (credit and debit)
• Apple Pay (iPhone and Apple Watch)
• Google Pay (Android devices)
• Samsung Pay

Simply tap your card or device at the payment terminal on the machine, select your cycle, and start. No coins required, no change machine needed, no pre-loading a laundry card.

Why Cashless Is Better

Cashless payment offers several advantages for laundromat customers:

• Convenience: You’re almost certainly already carrying your phone or card. No extra preparation needed.
• Hygiene: Tap payments are contactless — no handling of coins that have been through multiple hands.
• Speed: Tapping a card takes seconds. No fumbling with coins or waiting for a change machine.
• Accountability: Card payments create a transaction record, which is useful if you ever have a dispute about a charge.

Do Any Laundromats Still Use Coins Only?

Yes — particularly older or independently operated laundromats, and some in rural areas, still use coin-operated machines. If you’re visiting a laundromat you’re not familiar with, it’s worth checking their payment options in advance. Love Wash’s website lists payment options for each location.

Pre-Pay Cards and Laundry Cards

Some laundromat chains use a pre-pay laundry card system — you load credit onto a card at a kiosk and use that card at machines. This can be convenient for regular customers but adds an extra step. Love Wash uses direct tap-and-go payment to eliminate this friction.

Memberships and App Payments

Love Wash members can also manage payments through their membership account. If you’re a frequent visitor, a Love Wash membership simplifies the payment process further while delivering significant cost savings on each visit.

What If the Payment Terminal Is Faulty?

If you encounter a payment terminal that isn’t working at a Love Wash location, please let our staff know immediately. We keep basic coin availability as a backup at all locations to ensure no customer is left unable to complete their laundry because of a technical issue. Our goal is that you’re never inconvenienced by payment problems at our premises.
