How to Find a Laundromat When You’re New to an Area

Moving to a new suburb or city brings the practical question: where do I do my laundry? Finding a good laundromat quickly is important for anyone without in-home washing facilities. Here’s how to find your new local laundromat efficiently — and how to evaluate whether it’s worth your regular business.

Start with Google Maps

The fastest way to find a laundromat near any location is a Google Maps search for ‘laundromat’ or ‘laundry’ with your suburb or postcode. Google Maps shows you:

• Location and distance from you
• Opening hours
• Star ratings and number of reviews
• Recent customer photos of the premises
• Whether the laundromat has responded to reviews (a sign of an engaged owner)

Filter by rating (4 stars or above) to shortlist quality options. Reading recent reviews gives you genuine insight into current conditions — a laundromat that was great two years ago might have changed ownership or standards.

Check the Laundromat’s Own Website

Better laundromats have their own websites with current pricing, machine information, operating hours, and contact details. A laundromat with a professional website is generally a better-operated business than one with no web presence. Love Wash’s website at lovewash.com.au includes all location information, pricing, and membership details.

Ask New Neighbours

If you’re comfortable asking, neighbours in your building or street often have strong opinions about local laundromats. Word of mouth from actual local users is invaluable — they’ll tell you about machine reliability, cleanliness, parking, and whether the owners are responsive to issues.
